Celebrating 10 Years of Vaginismus Awareness
Celebrating 10 Years of Vaginismus Awareness
A Decade of Community, Education, and Empowerment.
We know vaginismus isn’t just physically challenging - it takes an emotional toll too. Over the years, many people have shared their experiences with us. They feel isolated, dismissed, or too embarrassed to talk about what’s happening in their bodies. That’s why we created Vaginismus Awareness Day. This day encourages conversations, spreads understanding, and highlights the support and treatment options available.
In 2025, we’re proud to mark the 10th anniversary of this awareness day, celebrating a whole decade of community, education, and empowerment.
Understanding Vaginismus
Vaginismus happens when the muscles around the vagina tighten involuntarily, especially during penetration. This can make sex, using tampons, or even routine gynaecological exams uncomfortable, difficult, or impossible.
There’s no single cause - because our minds and bodies are complex. Stress, anxiety, past experiences, fear of pain, or simply not feeling fully familiar with your body can all play a role.
The good news? With the right guidance and support, most people see progress. Many go on to enjoy sexual pleasure, vaginal penetration if they choose, and a renewed sense of confidence in their bodies.
Why Professional Support Matters
It can be tempting to try to figure things out on your own, but self-diagnosis isn’t safe when it comes to vaginismus. Everyone’s experience is different, and symptoms can overlap with other conditions. A qualified therapist, doctor, or pelvic floor specialist can give you an accurate diagnosis, guide you through safe treatment, and offer emotional support along the way.
Sh! and the World’s First Soft Silicone Vibrating Dilator Set
We know vaginismus can be confusing, frustrating, and sometimes painful. That’s why we developed the world’s first
soft silicone vibrating dilator set - designed to help you take control of your journey gently, comfortably, and yes, a little pleasurably too.
Our dilators are body-safe, soft, and flexible, with smooth tapered tips and a wide base that holds a removable vibrating bullet. The gentle vibration helps your muscles relax and makes insertion smoother. Many therapists, nurses, and doctors recommend the set, and it has become a trusted companion for countless people.
Why Vibration Makes a Difference
Using graded dilators allows your body to gradually adjust to sensation, easing fear and helping your pelvic floor muscles relax. Adding vibration takes this a step further:
It relaxes tense nerve endings for more comfortable insertion.
- The gentle buzz can distract and soothe, making the experience less stressful—and sometimes even enjoyable.
- Vibration improves circulation, supporting tissue health and healing.
- Many users find it helps ease muscle spasms or reflexive clenching, smoothing the path to progress.
- In short, vibration isn’t just a luxury—it’s a helpful friend on your journey to comfort and confidence.
